Tom Daglis

     

USPTA Master Professional

Tom Daglis is certified as a USPTA Master Professional by the United States Professional Tennis Association, a certification that is shared with less than 1% of the USPTA membership worldwide.  His involvement with the USPTA is extensive, having served as past president for the USPTA Southern Division in '95 and '96 and currently serving on the USPTA National Board of Directors in the capacity of Immediate Past President.


The USPTA has honored Tom with distinctions such as 2003 George Basco Tester of the Year, 1992 Southern Professional of the Year, 2-time Georgia Professional of the Year, 3-time USPTA Southern Tester of the Year and and awarded the Southern Pride of the South award three times.  He was also inducted into the USPTA Southern Hall of Fame. In 2006, he was awarded the USPTA's most prestigious award, as the Alex Gordon Professional of the Year.  Tom has previously served as Director of Tennis at fine clubs such as Atlanta Country Club, GA; Concourse Athletic Club, GA; and Lakewood Country Club, Md. For over nine years, Tom has acted as business consultant for the Southern Tennis Academy and as president/founder of Peachtree Tennis Promotions, Inc., he has successfully directed large tennis events and coach's workshops on a national scale. His active involvement in the tennis industry has resulted in being previously selected as a USTA Zonal Coach and USTA Area Training Center Coach and Administrator. Tom has often been a featured speaker at the USPTA World Conference and USPTA Division Conventions across the country.  A past president of the Georgia Professional Tennis Association, the GPTA has awarded Tom for his significant accomplishments, which include Tennis Director of the Year, Community Service Award and the Georgia Peach Award for contributions to Georgia tennis.  He is presently a member of the Head/Penn Professional Advisory Staff and Speaker Bureau.

 

Tom received his Associate of Arts Degree in Business Administration from Central Florida Community College, a Bachelor of Arts Degree in General Studies from Columbus State University, a Masters of Science Degree in Career and Technical Education from Ferris State University and has taken post graduate courses at Western Michigan University, working towards his Ph.D. in Educational Leadership.  He is currently an Assistant Professor and the Director of Professional Tennis Managment for PTM program at Methodist University, Fayetteville, NC.   www.methodist.edu/PTM
